Frances Farmer, C.1930’s

If I was asked who I admired most I would say Greta Garbo or Marlene Dietrich. I love Rita Hayworth but I think the former two are stronger and more influential in their life experiences. When I don’t know what to do I pretend I’m Greta Garbo and I feel a little more confident.

Where did that sparkle of strong, feminine and independent class go? Why aren’t girlies like Marlene anymore? I can’t understand why a lady wouldn’t want to be a Greta or a Rita or an Ava.
